"When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass." continued Kiara, her voice lifting over the savanna as she walked with her two sons down a well-beaten path.
"But don't we eat the antelope?" Ashiki asked, his face twisting in confusion as his brain tried to process the information. Kiara chuckled, her eyes growing soft. She had asked her father the same question, when he had given her this speech many years ago.
"Yes, Ashiki. But that is what makes our relationship with the other animals so special."
"Because we eat each other?" Roho butted in, disbelief and near-horror tinting his handsome face, concern etching his brow. He couldn't believe that the animals of their kingdom ate each other like that! "I mean, I know we eat the antelope, but they eat us too?"
Kiara's chuckle developed into a laugh, the sound soft in the morning air. "We are all connected, my sons. That connection is what makes our relationships so special. You see, that connection is what is called the great 'Circle of Life'."
She fell silent for a moment, letting her sons absorb the information she had just given them. They exchanged glances before looking back up at their mother, eager for more of the lesson. "So if we become the grass, what do the antelope become?" Roho asked, pausing for a second in their walk to contemplate the deep meaning behind his mother's words.
"Lunch!" Ashiki interrupted, his smile cracking the once-silent mood and causing Roho to jump beside him, his laugh echoing his brother's. Kiara rolled her eyes before shuffling her sons along, her smile soft behind half-hearted scolding. It took a moment to calm them down before she continued in her lesson...
"From the day we arrived on the planet..."

I drew the three lions by hand. The background is a mashup of various TLK screenshots with some editing, mainly with color and position. I added shadows (ground), light, and the tree and some of the grass was done by hand. The sky colors were also put in by hand; I added gradients to all of it in order to make it match.
